Department Of Oral And Maxillofacial Surgery
Oral and maxillofacial surgery is the department that includes the treatments of both soft and hard tissues of oral tissues. Tooth extraction , impacted tooth surgeries , treatments of cysts in jaw and surrounding tissues , treatment of tumors in jaw and surrounding tissues , maxillofacial traumatology and treatment of jaw fractures , pre-prosthetic surgeries, oro-facial pains , treatment of temporomandibular disfunction (physiotherapy , arthroscopy, arthrosynthesis and botox application) , treatment of odontogenetic infections, treatment of salivary gland diseases, diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases and dental implantology ( advanced implant surgery when there isnt enough bone and soft tissues to place an implant) are in work field of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
In additon to this , diagnosis , treatments and post-operative controls of oral findings of systemic diseases are also being done . With 8 professor , 3 associate professor and 10 research asisstant in our department we are giving modern treatment services by following the recent updates/innovations in the technology closely. In our department both theoritical and practical education of 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students are being maintained under control by our professors,associate professors and research assistants

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery; It is the science in which the pathologies of soft and hard tissues in the oral region are treated. The scope of our department as follows:
Clinical and impacted tooth extraction;
Treatment of jaw and surrounding tissue cysts;

Treatment of odontogenic tumors;
Maxillofacial traumatology and treatment of jaw fractures;
Pre-prosthetic surgery;
Diagnosis and treatment of maxillofacial pain;
Treatment of temporomandibular joint disorders (physical therapy, arthroscopy, arthrocentesis and botox applications);
Treatment of odontogenic infections;
Treatment of salivary gland diseases;
Diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases;
Dental implantology (especially advanced implant surgery in cases where there is not enough bone and soft tissue for implant placement)
In addition to these, the diagnosis, treatment and control of the oral findings of some systemic diseases are also implicated. We serve with 5 professors, 2 associate professors, 1 assisstant professor, 12 research assistants and 6 PhD students in our department, which offers a modern treatment service by closely following new technologies. In our department, the education of 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students is carried out with theoritical and practical lessons under the supervision of our faculty members and research assistants.
